Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, MGH Agree to New Contract

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Marion Health have reached agreement on a multi-year contract. The agreement means Anthem policyholders in Grant and surrounding counties will continue to have access to in-network medical care at Marion Health. The previous contract between Anthem and MGH was set to expire at midnight on January 31, 2013.

The contract covers Anthem’s PPO, HMO, Federal Employee health plan (FEP), Medicaid, Healthy Indiana Plan and Medicare Advantage PPO plans and means that Anthem members enrolled in these plans may receive care for covered medical services at the highest level of benefits, with the least out-of-pocket cost.

“We’re pleased that several months of hard work has brought these negotiations to a successful conclusion and that Anthem customers will be able to access health care services at Marion Health without interruption,” said David Lee M.D., vice president of provider engagement and contracting for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Indiana.

“We look forward to continuing our mission and commitment to our Healthcare Community to provide local access to quality healthcare,” said Paul L. Usher, president/CEO of Marion Health.

The new contract took effect at 12:01 a.m. on February 1, 2013.
