Marion Health named 5-star hospital by federal agency

Marion, Ind. (July 27, 2022) – Today Marion Health was named a 5-star hospital by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, a federal agency located within the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Marion Health is ranked in the top 14 percent for hospitals nationwide.

“The 5-star CMS rating is a direct indication of the high-quality care provided by our medical providers and staff at Marion Health. This is another validation of our strong commitment to provide quality healthcare to our community,” said Stephanie Hilton-Siebert, CEO and President of Marion Health.

CMS’ star rating system, launched in 2016, assigns stars based on 48 measures in the following five categories: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, and timely and effective care. Here is a breakdown of the updated star ratings for hospitals nationwide:

  • One-star: 192 hospitals
  • Two-stars: 692
  • Three-stars: 890
  • Four-stars:890
  • Five-stars: 429
